The Free the Cuban 5 Committee – Victoria Condemns the US Courts Decision In the Trial of Luis Posada Carriles

On January 10th 2011 a trial against Luis Posada Carriles, one of the most infamous terrorists in Cuba and in all of Latin America, began in El Paso Texas. However, Posada was not being tried for terrorism, but rather for the minor charges of perjury and immigration fraud. On Friday April 8th 2011, after 13 weeks of testimony and only 3 hours of jury deliberation, Luis Posada Carriles, was acquitted of all 11 counts of perjury, obstruction and immigration fraud.

From its very beginning, this farcical trial of Posada has been an insult to the Cuban people and to all those who seek peace and justice around the world. In a travesty of justice and emblazoned hypocrisy of the US Government, Posada walks freely in the streets of the United States while 5 Cuban men, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Fernando González & René González remain unjustly held in US Jails for over 12 years. Their “crime”? Investigating Miami-based terrorist organizations, led by such people like Posada, which since 1959 have been responsible for the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba. While Posada is allowed to live out his the rest of his life in peace, as a protected agent of the United States government, the Cuban 5 are serving inhumane sentences of one life term plus sixty-nine years collectively.

The Free the Cuban 5 Committee – Victoria is calling on all peace loving people in Victoria and around the world, to condemn the US governments April 8th decision in acquitting Posada of all charges and to demand that Posada be extradited immediately to Venezuela to face justice for the bombing of a Cuban civilian airliner in 1976, that killed all 73 people on board, one of his many terrorist crimes. We also call on all those who seek peace and justice to join the millions of people around the world who continue to struggle for the freedom of the 5 Cuban heroes held in US jails.

Now is the time to redouble our efforts to build a strong and effective campaign for justice and human rights that demands:

El Comité por la Libertad de los Cinco en Victoria condena la decisión de las Cortes de los EEUU en el juicio de Luis Posada Carriles

El 10 de enero del 2011 comenzó en El Paso, Texas el juicio en contra de uno de los mas infames terroristas en Cuba y toda America Latina. Sin embargo Posada no estaba siendo juzgado por terrorismo sino por acusaciones menores de perjurio y fraude de inmigración. El viernes 8 de abril del 2011, después de 13 semanas de testimonios y solo 3 horas de deliberación por el jurado, Luis Posada Carriles fue absuelto de 11 acusaciones de perjurio, obstrucción y fraude migratorio.
Desde su mismo inicio esta farsa de juicio ha sido un insulto al pueblo cubano y todos quienes buscan la paz con justicia alrededor del mundo. En una travestía de la justicia y abierta hipocresía del gobierno de los EEUU, Posada camina libremente por las calles de EEUU mientras 5 hombres cubanos, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González & René González permanecen injustamente en cárceles de los EEUU por mas de 12 años. Su “crimen” fue investigar organizaciones terroristas con base en Miami y dirigidas por personas como Posada la cuales son responsables de la muerte de 3,400 personas en Cuba desde 1959. Mientras a Posada se le permite vivir el resto de su vida en paz como un agente protegido del gobierno de los EEUU, los cinco esta sirviendo penas inhumanas de una vida mas 69 años colectivamente.

El Comité por la Libertad de los Cinco en Victoria llama a todos las personas amantes de la paz en Victoria y en el mundo a condenar la decisión del gobierno de los EEUU de absolver a Posada de todas las acusaciones. Que se extradite a Posada inmediatamente a Venezuela para que enfrente la justicia por la explosión de un vuelo de Cubana de Aviación en el 1976, la cual mato a las 73 pasajeros a bordo, uno de sus muchos crímenes terroristas. Llamamos a todos los que buscan la paz con justicia a que se unan a los millones de personas en el mundo que continúan luchando por la libertad de los Cinco héroes cubanos encarcelados en EEUU.

Ahora es el tiempo de redoblar nuestros esfuerzos para construir una campaña fuerte y efectiva por la justicia y los derechos humanos que exija:
